WITCHES- WARLOCKS -WIZARDS OH MY!
Witches are well known throughout the world- They have been around since anyone can remember-
What makes a woman a witch? Or a man a wizard??? How can you tell if you are one or have the gifts or insights to become one?
Witch- A woman who practices Sorcery; one having supernatural powers.
Wizard- A male witch sorcerer.
Warlock- a wizard a sorcerer, a demon.
Witchcraft- the practices or powers of witches and wizards
There are many different types of magic/majic. There are several different levels, stages and parts.
There are religions based souly on those of magic or congering of souls or spirits. WitchCraft itself is A very COMPLEX art. It can be both good and bad. Most rule it out and say that it is ONLY a dark art no matter what way you label it- BUT that is not the case. If you are going to be educating somone you should educate them on all aspects. The light and dark side of this art.
Ritualistic practices are run around the same baisis of Witchcraft or Sorcery, however there are variations and there are differences.
Salem Witch Trials was a time of pure hysteria. In 1962 the largest witch hunt in Colonial New England happened. 350 people were accused of Witchcraft. 185 of those people were in Salem. The witch accusations began in Salem after a slave named Tituba had told stories of Voodoo in her native land of Barbados. It went on for quite some time. By the time the witch hunts were ALL over thousands had been accused of witchcraft. Many died and only some were aquited of the charges.
Different Types of WitchCraft-
This is not by FAR a complete listing- However it is a general one!
Alexandrian- founded in England in the 1960's by Alexander Sanders proclaimed "King of Witches". Alexandrian Covens focus on training, emphasizing on ceremonial majic. Such as Qabalah, Angelic Majic, and Enchian.
Celtic- Many traditions under the title of Celtic. It encompasses Druidism, Celtic Shamanism, Celtic Wicca or Witta, the Grail Religion, and Celtic Christianity for the Culdees. Practiced today most are part of the Neo-Pagan Revival. Focusing on Nature and Healing.
Ceremonial- uses a LARGE amount of Ceremonial Majic in practices.
Dianic- The most feminon craft tradition. Most Dianic Covens worship the Goddess ONLY. Diana and Artemis are the most common. Most today are women only however there are some men practicers. Rituals are Eclectic.
Eclectic- Groups and Individuals who DO NOT adhere to specific witchcraft or paths.
Faery- Estastic rather than fertility tradition emphasizing on Polytheism, practical magic, self-developement, and theurgy. Strong emphasis is placed on sensual experience, and awareness, including Sexual Mysticism.
THERE ARE MANY MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT WARLOCKS!
Many people think that A Warlock is just a Demon- However through out time MEN who practiced witchcraft were titled as being Warlocks, Rather than being titled a Wizard.
Voodoo- A primitave religion of West African origin- belief in sorcery, and the use of charms, fetishes, witchcraft
Curse- An appeal for evil or injury to befall another, any profanr oath.
CANDLE MAGIC/SPELLS
Candle rituals have been around for centuries. The following is what each candle color stands for.
White- truth, purity
Red- love, health, sex, strength
Green- money, luck, fertility
Black- discord, evil, negativity, confusion
Brown- nuetraility, uncertainty, hesitation
Pink- love, morality, honour
Purple- power, buisness progress, ambition
Orange- attraction, stimulation
Green Yellow- jealousy, anger, discord
Gray- nuetaility, stale mate, negativity
Light Blue- tranquility, patience, health
Dark Blue- depression, changeability
Candle Spells can be easy or complicated, depends on the time spent.
BOOK OF SHADOWS
A book of shadows is a person or a groups collection of spells and rituals. It is always better to come up with your own spells/ rituals rather than following those of someone else. Do to the Charma factor. The Reason behind this is that the person who wrote its intentions maybe different from your own! And the end result may not be what you are anticipating!
